When What You’ve Been Doing Hasn’t Worked

What do you do when what you been doing hasn’t worked as well as you planned? The bible says that A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps (Proverbs 16:9) Sometimes our plans don’t come through the way we planned. Does that mean you give up? Of course not. It means that you try another way. In 2015 I made my plans and some of them became a reality. One was that I wanted to make healthier friends. I really did accomplish that goal. I love the new friends I have! If you follow me or are my friend on Facebook earlier today I did an appreciation post on some of them. Sometimes you have to change who you are friends with. In Girl Scouts as a child I learned the song “Make New Friends.” The words to this song are:

“Make new friends,

But keep the old.

One is silver and the other’s gold.”

Both are very valuable. But sometimes you have to let go of friends that really aren’t your friends. Those are the one that are nicknamed “crabs.” These are the ones who will drag you down and keep you down. They have a problem with anyone who better’s themselves. If you have anyone in your life that is that way, do yourself a favor, and get rid of them. You deserve better.

But another goal I set was to get to a certain level in my business. That goal wasn’t reached. But I’m now revising how I can make that goal become a reality in this coming year. I’m getting help from some of my leaders, one who is a new friend also. I’m continuing to pray. And with the new plans I’m not doubting that I will reach this goal.

What goals do you need to revisit? Is what you’ve been doing working? If not, maybe you need to look at another way. Be blessed!

DANCE to Success

Over the past few years I’ve become friends with several people who are black belts in different martial arts areas. While they are black belts in different areas, some qualities stand out that are very important to learn from. And they are incredibly successful at what they do. To be successful you need to DANCE!

You need to DELIVER what you promise. They make commitments to teach their students. That is how they deliver. And they are the best at what they do! That is how they became black belts!

Next, you need to AFFIRM others and be NICE to them. When they say that they are your friend, there is no reason to doubt it! I really enjoy talking to these friends and I am so blessed to be able to call them my friends. There is a saying that to have a friend, be a friend. I truly believe that without friends, you are not successful. Affirming and being nice is so simple! And takes very little time.

You have to be CONFIDENT in what you believe. If you believe you can be successful, you will be! Have confidence and go after what you want. One of my goals that I have no doubt that I will achieve is to become a black belt myself. And I have no doubt that this will happen. What you want to see happen may be hard. You will have to be willing to push through the times that you want to quit, but if you don’t quit, you will become a success!

And finally, you need to be willing to EDUCATE. I home-schooled my kids for 9 years. One of the things I learned is that if you want to know if have mastered something, you need to be able to teach it. Masters show in martial arts that they have mastered it by teaching!  So, DANCE to success! And become a master! Have a blessed 2016!

Breakout 2016!!!

We are 12 days from 2016. This past Wednesday I was on a women’s call with a new friend named Michelle Teague and two network marketing leaders with Modere named Michelle Barns and Sarah Zolecki.  The topic was Breaking out in 2016. Three points were focused on and they are worth repeating.
Point one was the past is in the past. Leave it there. God didn’t put our eyes behind us. That is a reminder that we need to look forward. Let the past go. Sometimes that isn’t easy! But it is needed! You can’t do anything about it anyway. Learn to forgive. And remember to work on yourself. Have confidence that what you are doing will work out in the end. I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Do what you can, and God will always do what you can’t!
The second point was have a new strategy. If what you have been doing hasn’t worked, try something new. Sometimes that will include letting go of people, even people you were close to at one time. Focus on one new thing. What is your DMO? DMO stands for Daily Method of Operations. Track what you’re doing. Do your actions match your expectations? If they don’t, change them. But make small changes. Huge changes may not be needed. By making small changes you will see the changes faster. And you will know if what you are doing is working or not and you can change what needs to be changed sooner.
The third point was about accountability. You need to be accountable to someone: first and foremost to yourself. But you also need an accountability partner. This needs to be someone that will tell you what you can do differently and encourage you when you need it. This can be a friend, a business partner, your spouse or significant other. But it needs to be someone that will tell you what you need to hear, good or bad.
In closing, you need to have unshakable belief that what you are doing will succeed! And you have to believe that success is your friend. Have a fantastic year!

Motivation: Where Do I Find It?

84910-Keep-Pushing-Forward

We all have ” those” days. Days when you just want to give up and throw in the towel and say it just isn’t worth it.  I’ve talked about this before and I knew that the time would come when I would need to address it again. The past couple of  weeks have been challenging to say the least. My kids have started school and to be honest I’ve questioned why am I taking on so much? I’m a writer, have an internet based business that I run, take care of my house, get my kids to and from different activities and just life in general. So what have I been doing to push forward?

  1. I’ve taken some time and just re-evaluated why I’m doing what I’m doing! That is why it’s important to write out your goals.
  2. I’ve talked to some friends and told them what I was struggling with and asked for prayer and for input on how to keep on pushing on.
  3. I  re-read my own blog! Almost all of what I’ve written here has come out of my own struggles. And doing that has reminded me of why I’m doing what I’m doing.
  4. I took some time and listened to some motivational audios. Les Brown and Tony Robbins are among my favorites. I also spend some additional time on World’s Greatest Mentors. Including doing the self-hypnosis that is available there.
  5. I spent some time listening to just some praise and worship music.
  6. I listened to some of my favorite preachers.
  7. I read a book just for fun. This time I read “Before Anne of Green Gables.”
  8. I started a new activity. I’ve joined Toastmaster’s International.
  9. I focused even more on my business.
  10. I got more work done on my book that I’ve been writing. And I’ll actually be done with that by the end of this week!
  11. I wrote out what I’ve accomplished this year.  Seeing in black & white what has been done can be incredibly motivating! And will encourage you to push for more!
  12. I made exercise a priority.

When you want to quit, you have to keep on pushing forward. So keep on pushing on. If I can, ANYONE can! Remember what Les Brown says: “You have greatness within you!”

Priorities: Putting things in Order

priorites

What do your priorities look like? Do you have things set up correctly? I am a Christian and that does dictate my priorities to a large degree. My priorities are listed this way:

  1. God: If I expect Him to direct my steps then I have to listen to what He says to me.
  2. Myself! Yes, I put myself as a priority. How can I handle anything else if I’m not taking care of myself?
    1. Priority setting. Is what I’m actively doing taking care of me?
    2. Health: Am I eating what I need to eat to be in the best physical shape I can be in?
    3. Exercise: What am I doing on a daily basis to get off the chair/bed/couch?
    4. Mental health: What am I doing to keep my mind healthy?
      1. That includes having some fun! So what am I doing just for fun?
      2. Growing: I am a learner, I love to learn new things! And this is a priority for me. I am also learning to teach others more effectively!
      3. Meditation/relaxation time. This is  a little different than prayer. While I do pray, I  also take time to just rest and quiet my mind and literally do nothing for a few minutes every day.
      4. Positive affirmations: An incredibly important part of my day. I do it typically first thing every morning.
  3. My kids come next. They are still growing up and I make sure they get what they need.
  4. My husband. I’ve been told that I need  to have him over my kids, but circumstances that I won’t tell here dictate that my kids come before him.
  5. My career. I am a writer and an entrepreneur. If I expect my work to be done, I have to make sure that I do the work. I don’t have a boss, except my calendar. If I expect my goals to be met, I have to do the work. In my work time I have certain things that I have to make sure I get done.
    1. Goal setting! I can’t reach goals that haven’t been set.
    2. Phone calls, and contacting people. In network marketing I have to contact people. Typically people won’t just say “hey I want to join your company.” I do have one person on my team that joined that way, but she is the exception. Not the rule.
    3. Writing. I am writing a novel. It won’t write itself, so I have to do the work.

Mindset

Positive-Mindset-Cant-be-Defeated

I was born breech. I was told growing up I would struggle a lot. School was not always easy, but I learned to enjoy learning new things. And I had a family who believed in me and encouraged me to  shoot for the stars! And I did!!!!   Now I’m becoming a leader in Max International, the Glutathione Company. And I’m also becoming a professional writer. Learning has become a way of life! As a result,  learning has become easier. Now: peoples opinions don’t impact me the way it used to.

What has changed? I have become better at choosing my leaders. I have taken control over my thoughts. I have learned to focus on what is important. I’ve learned that most of what my mind thinks is WRONG. Yes, wrong! You can change your mind. That is why the bible says we have to renew our minds! God has put some amazing people in my life as leaders. The top 5 are:

  • Dr. Reggie Cochran, my closest friend and adopted big brother. He is the project coordinator for Chuck and Gena Norris. And a world champion in many areas, including Martial Arts.
  • Chris Lianos, an amazing friend and great leader! As well as an amazing writer.
  • Dean Matheson, another amazing friend and leader
  • Barb Wilbur, a wonderful friend who recently earned her black belt in martial arts. She is really good at telling me what I need to know or do.
  • The fifth person is someone who doesn’t realize I consider her as a leader. Sara Fogan is an amazing friend. We don’t talk as often as I want. But, she is an amazing friend and leader.

Being a leader and having a positive mindset is directly linked. If you want your life to change, take your thoughts captive! If they are negative, begin to force positive thoughts! And I mean this literally! You may have to force it for a while! But here’s the good thing, the more you force it, the easier it will become.

I’ve listed my top 5 leaders, but I also have several friends who are also great leaders. For me, to be a leader isn’t always obvious. Just because someone is connected to you directly, such as your boss or your sponsor or upline in a network marketing company, that does not automatically make them your leader. A true leader will want to invest in you even if they don’t make money because of you. And a leader will also help you find strategies that work for you to get the success you want. Some of my leaders are in Max, many are not.

Be careful what you think. Watch your mindset. Be careful who you choose as a leader. What you think becomes your words. And your words become your life. Are you battling anxiety? Look at your thoughts. Same applies to depression and other mental issues.

Remember what Les Brown says, “YOU HAVE GREATNESS WITHIN YOU!” So go show it to the world!

ROAR

It’s important to have your own voice. In the song, Roar, by Katy Perry, we hear these words:

“Roar”

I used to bite my tongue and hold my breath
Scared to rock the boat and make a mess
So I sat quietly, agree politely
I guess that I forgot I had a choice
I let you push me past the breaking point
I stood for nothing, so I fell for everything

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus:]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar

Now I’m floating like a butterfly
Stinging like a bee I earned my stripes
I went from zero, to my own hero

You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Already brushing off the dust
You hear my voice, you hear that sound
Like thunder gonna shake the ground
You held me down, but I got up (HEY!)
Get ready ’cause I’ve had enough
I see it all, I see it now

[Chorus:]
I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(You’re gonna hear me roar)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(You’ll hear me roar)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar…

Ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar, ro-oar

I got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Louder, louder than a lion
‘Cause I am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(You’re gonna hear me roar)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
(You’ll hear me roar)
Oh oh oh oh oh oh oh
You’re gonna hear me roar…

Are you ready to have your own voice? I am and I’m making changes. That is why I’ve been so quiet recently. You have to have your priorities straight. Sometimes that means that you have to cut some things out for a while. Right now I’m focusing on my business and you will see the in the new blog posts that I’m going to be doing how these changes are carrying over into every area of my life. Including here. So pay attention. ROAR!!!! Have a great day and remember what Les Brown says: you have greatness within you.

Superpowers and Superheros

I bet you didn’t know that just Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Green Lantern had superpowers! We do too!!!! But we have to cultivate them. My friend Chris Lianos, author of “Finding Zero” spent this week teaching on being open to abundance on Periscope.  We have to cultivate some super powers to receive it. He described 4 of these in particular:

  1. Gratitude
  2. Compassion
  3. Forgiveness and
  4. Persistence

How do we do this? I’ve been thinking about this a lot over the past couple of days. Gratitude: you find something to be grateful for each day and make it into a habit. Having a grateful heart will make you look for the positive things in life. And as a side benefit: people who are grateful live longer! Science has shown it. So cultivate gratitude!

Compassion: By caring for others, you will show people that you care. And that makes you more attractive to others and will lead to more friendships! And who doesn’t want that?

Forgiveness: By practicing forgiveness, you make life better for yourself! Holding on to a grudge doesn’t help anyone. And also, you will have a better life. By the way, even though some people don’t deserve forgiveness, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t forgive them. And forgiveness doesn’t mean you should be friends.

Finally persistence: Don’t quit on what you want! Winners never quit and quitters never win.

Remember: like Les Brown says,  “You have greatness within you!”

Gratitude

Belief in YOURSELF!

A certain woman was told that she could write and do some things incredibly well. And she realized that she did the things that she was told she could do very easily. But then other people came along and told her that she should focus on other things and let this go. She listened to them and left the things that she loved behind and began to focus on the things she was told to focus on. Over time life continued on. And the dreams that she had were pushed further and further down until the day came that she forgot about them. That was the day that without her realizing it she began to die. But over time as her life went on she gradually began to think back on the times that she was happiest. She began to long for the joy that she had. And gradually some people would come into her life that encouraged her to look at those dreams again. So she did. And gradually she began to revisit those dream until the day came that she decided that she would pursue those dreams again. Only this time the other people wouldn’t stop her. She decided she was worth it. And she could do it.
