The ART of Rest

This morning at my church our pastor talked about rest and the focus verse is Hebrews 4:11. This incredible verse in the Message version of the bible says “And so this is still a live promise. It wasn’t canceled at the time of Joshua; otherwise, God wouldn’t keep renewing the appointment for “today.” The promise of “arrival” and “rest” is still there for God’s people. God himself is at rest. And at the end of the journey we’ll surely rest with God. So let’s keep at it and eventually arrive at the place of rest, not drop out through some sort of disobedience.” Pastor Richard gave us this acronym which makes this incredibly simple.

Attentiveness: you must focus on doing what God tells you to do. If He doesn’t direct you to it, then don’t do it.

Resolve: resolve yourself to only do what God directs you to do.

Trust: Trust that God knows what He is doing.

By simply doing these 3 simple things you will find that you are able to rest.

Remember the acronym for FOCUS: Follow One Course Until Successful. As I’ve been reading through the bible this year I have noticed one thing about Jesus, most of the time Jesus only focused on one or at the most 2 things at a time. He could easily have handled more than that, but for our sakes He demonstrated FOCUS. God bless you!
